Just looking at your website brought back beautiful memories. Back in
the late 80’s I stayed in the Mansion. I owned a B& B then Hazlewood House in Galveston. Later we stayed in the breesway , I think it was just completed. The later we stayed in an unfinished cottage about a block away that wasn’t complete but we offered to put the bed together. then another time the Corn Crip was available for 1 night because the band
guy stayed there one night so it was avail. for Sat. Then , gosh , must have been abou t 1990 I stayed in a two story room , I think the hay loft.
All were delightful experiences. ( Sunday Has was being completed then
I believe) Now at 63 it brings a smile to my face to see the development
of the Mansion. We are going to San Antonio to get away from hurricane
Dean but now Dean is not coming . We already have our rooms in San
Antonio but I was keeping my fingers crossed for an availability on
Friday Aug 25th only one night. I’ll call from San Antonio to check availability . Looks like a nice rock band at Greune Hall. I can just taste
the ice cream sundae at Grist Mill now. Pat Hazlewood Galveston Texas
I have never stayed at the mansion, but that will change in April when I will be there for my honeymoon…my fiance surprised me with 2 nights in the River view room! I hope to blog again after I get back. Right now I am currently stationed in Germany with my fiance, and we are both looking forward to coming home for the wedding (San Antonio)!!!
Just returned from another wonderful stay at the Gruene Mansion Inn. We had a great time - our room was wonderful and we really enjoyed the yummy breakfast in the Mansion. All the staff was very, very friendly and helpful. We will be back!
We love the Gruene Mansion Inn. Since 2000, we have celebrated many wedding anniversaries there. It is very relaxing and convenient to everything we want to do in Gruene and New Braunfels. One day we hope to live in the vicinity and I can imagine that we will STILL want to spend the night at Gruene Mansion Inn. We have stayed in many different rooms but I think the Hayloft was our most recent and favorite!
My husband and I stayed in the Fireside Lodge #2 in December 2008 for one night. We loved the room! It is so much better in person than on your website…… so beautiful. We only stayed for one night and attended the Jerry Jeff Walker concert at Gruene Hall, and wish we could’ve stayed an additional night if we were able. The breakfast buffett was delicious also. My husband is pretty picky and he loved it!
We will be going back hopefully for a whole weekend next time.
My wife and i spent our one yr anniversary in the Riverview this past weekend. The weather was wonderful and the atmosphere and room were perfect. We spent a romantic evening enjoying the view and the old claw foot tub and the quiet seclusion you just can’t find in many places anymore. The made to order breakfast was delicious the next morning to top off the whole experience. We WILL be back !
My friend and I went to the mansion to get a gift certificate for a room for some very special friends 50th wedding anniversary surprise. When we arrived I asked to see what the rooms looked like so we could know what it was our friends would have from us. We asked to see only single story units. The Riverview units were so darling and definately something we would both like to enjoy with our husbands on a very special day. But the Carriage Haus was just perfect for our friends. It has a lovely sitting room, a beautiful bed, a large walk in shower with a rain showerhead, and a quaint porch with 2 rocking chairs and a wooden swing. We ordered a gift basket for their enjoyment too. I can hardly wait for them to go
My deceased husband took be there before we were married, in ‘92. What a wonderful treat that was…the room was small but on the riverside, and I loved the clawfoot tub. The next year we stayed in a larger room, which was very nice, but I missed the first tone. This year I am taking my new husband of 2 years there…he is a musician and will love the Music Hall, as well as the Mansion, and he’ll love the breakfast as well. Such a special treat.
Melissa and Myself had a wonderful 2 nite stay in the River Tree loft. Best was the view of the river and enjoying sitting out in the rocking chairs and having an excellent breakfast provided by them.(LOVED the Cinnamon Rolls) The Grounds were beautiful and all the staff were wonderful. We also enjoyed having some Blue Bell ice cream over at the General Store and listening to the Band at Gruene Hall. The Grist Mill Had the best steaks and cooked just to our likeing. If you stay by the river keep a look out for the The Texas Spiney Lizards they are fun to watch (They are Harmless) We will be back in the Fall for another stay
We stayed in the Gruene Mansion Inn August ‘08 and we are planning another stay this August. Our group was large (needed 5 rooms) and we’ve talked about the place so much, this time we need 8 or 9! It was so fun to walk everywhere and run into our own crowd as well as the wonderful people of Gruene. We tubed 3 days and danced at Gruene Hall till closing. It was a great way to vacation with our college-bound kids the week before they left for school. None will ever forget it. Thank you Gruene Mansion Inn!
My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at the Gruene Mansion Inn, 2 nights in #7 Gast Haus and one in #13.
We loved every minute of it, even in the Texas summer. We knew Gruene was a great place to visit, but until we arrived, we did not realize how close and accessible the town attractions were to your facilities. We enjoyed floating the river, antique shopping, dancing the floors at Gruene Hall, dinner without driving around, and topping the night off by sitting on the curb downtown with an excellent scoop of ice cream from the General Store.
The rooms were beautiful, with a rustic charm and cleanliness. Your staff was awesome. The food was delicious. And we have recommended you to everyone we talk to about our stay.
Thank you for hosting and creating such an environment to enjoy our vacation.
Cecil, As always Tim and I had an amazing time at the Mansion! I am sure you had your hand in the arranging of the birthday cake.. Thank you it was so gooooood!! See you maybe at Thanksgiving! Smiles to you and Judy!
We just returned from a two night stay in the Country Penthouse #15 and loved every minute of it!! Neither one of us had ever stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before so we weren’t too sure what to expect. You all went above and beyond anything that we could have anticipated. We absolutely loved sitting on the porch in the rocking chairs. This was by far the most relaxing vacation we have been on and plan to make it an annual event. Thank you for the delicious breakfast and curtious staff. Ya’ll really have it together!!!
We have been wanting to stay at the Gruene Mansion for years but we never found a room available when we planned to visit. I was fortunate to be able to book the Carriage Haus this past weekend so we could come and enjoy the Wine and Music Festival. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate so we didn’t get to use the outdoor patio and swing, but we thoroughly enjoyed the Carriage Haus and our stay. Great people (thanks Cecil!) and a great breakfast. We have another room booked for our 37th anniversary in November and we’re looking forward to it!
We moved to the New Braunfels area almost 8 years ago. We eat in Gruene several times a year and love the atmosphere. We recently got tickets to see Robert Earl Keen and Gruene Hall and I decided to surprise my husband with a room at Gruene Mansion Inn for that night so that we would be able to have a “few beers” and not worry about driving home (which is 5 minutes away-lol). We ABSOLUTELY loved it. We were in Harriet’s Haus #27 which has a king size bed on the ground floor. The room was fabulous. Breakfast the next morning was wonderful. My husband tends to be a little picky and he was comopletely won over. The ladies that prepare the breakfast were the best. The whole Inn is just laid back…..no rush, just enjoy. We will go back - ABSOLUTELY. Would love to try a really cold few nights with one of the fireplace rooms. Thanks so much guys!! P.S. This was an anniversary gift to ourselves…..well worth it and so much more!!
My wife Alice had me drive all over the local area and was headed up to the lake and we became lost. She said lets head for Greune and have lunch. It was well worth the 6 hour drive that day and what a beautiful place. We were given a mini tour of the Gruene Mansion and just fell in love with it. Of course we set up plans to come up in late April and stay two nights. The bill is paid and we are ready to go dancing, how about you?
We had another memory making weekend at Gruene Mansion Inn. It’s like coming home again - warm, loving fellowship, comfortable and clean rooms, great food and gorgeous scenery! Already making plans to return! You who are new to Gruene Mansion Inn and are thinking of booking a stay…DO IT…you won’t regret it. Tell them Ms. Dorris sent you!
